Getting Started
Yes. There is no cost and no obligation to enroll. Many people use the call simply to understand their options.
No. A consultation is not a credit inquiry and has no impact on your credit score.
A general sense of your outstanding balances, monthly income, and expenses is helpful, but exact figures aren't required to get started.
Debt Settlement
No. SafePath does not lend money or extend credit under any circumstance. We provide debt settlement guidance and administer escrow-based programs.
Debt settlement generally applies to unsecured debt, such as credit cards, personal loans, and certain medical or collection balances. Secured debts like mortgages or auto loans typically are not eligible.
No. We do not guarantee that any debt will be settled for a specific amount, within a specific timeframe, or at all. Outcomes depend on your creditors and individual circumstances.
Possibly. Creditors may continue collection efforts, including calls or legal action, while you're enrolled. Your consultant will explain how this is typically addressed.
Escrow & Fees
You do. The account is opened in your name at an independent, FDIC-insured financial institution — not controlled by SafePath.
Only after a debt is successfully settled and you've approved the release of funds from your escrow account. We do not charge fees upfront.
Yes. Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw from a program at any time, subject to the terms outlined in your service agreement.
Credit & Legal
It can. Missing payments as you build escrow funds, and settling debts for less than owed, may negatively affect your credit standing. We discuss this trade-off openly before you enroll.
It's possible. This is one reason some clients choose to add an optional legal plan through an affiliated, independent provider for additional support.
Forgiven debt may be reported as taxable income by the creditor. We recommend speaking with a qualified tax professional about your specific situation.
Working With Us
Yes. Each client works with a consistent consultant throughout their program, rather than a rotating call center.
We'll tell you. If your situation is better suited to consolidation, credit counseling, or another path, we'll say so during your consultation.
Schedule a free consultation through our contact page or by phone. There's no commitment required to have the conversation.
